6:AM participates as technical collaborator in Park’s Resourceful Intelligence installation, presented within the historic setting of the Corderie dell’Arsenale.
Resourceful Intelligence is Park’s contribution to the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, curated by Carlo Ratti under the theme “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.”
The installation offers a tangible response to one of the most urgent questions facing the construction industry today: how can we continue to build while drastically reducing our dependence on newly extracted resources?
Based on two architectural projects developed by Park in Milan, Resourceful Intelligence applies strategies of selective deconstruction and material reuse to demonstrate a circular approach to design.
6:AM’s contribution:
A façade composed of reprocessed glass, salvaged from the refurbishment of Palazzo Missori in Milan. The glass panes, no longer compliant with current energy performance standards, were fused onto steel textured molds, generating patterned panels that reveal the technical and aesthetic potential of recycled material.
Opposite the glass façade stands a second wall built using clinker tiles recovered from the deconstruction of Hotel Michelangelo, Milan. Positioned behind the clinker wall, a video illustrates a research project on Milan’s existing building stock, designed by Accurat based on a study conducted by Gabriele Masera’s team.
The installation responds to Carlo Ratti’s Circular Economy Manifesto.
All components are assembled using dry construction techniques, allowing for the complete disassembly of each element. After the exhibition, the glass panels and clinker tiles will return to their respective construction sites in Milan, where they will be reintroduced into ongoing building processes.
Park | 6:AM
Park and 6:AM laid the foundations of this joint project in 2024 during Milan Design Week, working on Park’s renovation of Palazzo Missori and salvaging glass from its window frames to develop a case study that led to a first presentation by 6:AM of its research and recovery initiative, FLOAT.
6:AM recovered these fixtures, otherwise set for demolition, to showcase how salvaged glass can be reused. The goal was to create a parallel transformation chain to the recycling process, reducing processing times while producing design-driven objects that preserve their historical significance.
Resourceful Intelligence is a project by Park, Accurat, Prof. Gabriele Masera, Prof. Francesco Pittau, Michele Versaci – Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering, Politecnico di Milano.
